Challenge

The customer is a leader in the logistics space. Legacy systems were not providing effective or efficient responses to both employees (dealer associates) or customers. Enterprise portal search capability required specific keywords to be used and was rigid and difficult for both customers and partners to leverage. 

 

They needed to build a scalable Gen AI platform to accelerate enterprise-wide solution deployment, unlocking organizational knowledge and boosting productivity. Transform logistic searches into fast, natural language lookups to enhance analyst efficiency and reduce technician diagnosis time. Improve customer satisfaction with faster issue resolution and service, while providing secure access to Gen AI technology for dealer associates. 

Solution

The solution was to use GenAI to unlock the hidden knowledge in their corporate portal and legacy knowledge management system. By enabling users (internal and external) to employ natural language search, Hitachi Digital Services’ solution unlocks knowledge and insights that were previously difficult to reveal. 

 

The use of AWS Bedrock and powerful foundation models such as Anthropic’s Claude or Cohere’s Command were the key building blocks leveraged by Hitachi’s solution architect on this project. Other key technologies included: 

  • EKS for scaling Python / Langchain orchestrations 
  • Building a RAG pipeline to deliver a chat-with-your-documents experience. The RAG solution is powered by AWS Knowledgebases. 
  • S3 for document ingest and preprocessing 
  • Cloudwatch for application monitoring and observability 
  • DynamoDB for session and conversation history including user feedback 
  • Enterprise SSO with Cognito and Azure AD. RBAC implemented through claims in the JWT auth token. 
Results

Hitachi Digital Services delivered a scalable GenAI platform, enabling the customer to achieve significant cost savings through increased workforce productivity and efficiency. The solution facilitated faster, natural language searches, enhancing analyst efficiency and reducing technician diagnosis time. This ultimately improved customer satisfaction with quicker issue resolution and service, providing secure access to Gen AI technology for dealer associates.
