Collaboration aims to simplify payments, reduce friction, and accelerate digital transformation across insurance, hospitality, retail, and transportation sectors LONDON, April 27, 2026 – Hitachi Digital Services, the global systems integrator powering mission-critical platforms, today announced a strategic partnership with Stripe, the programmable financial services company, to deliver seamless, end-to-end payment solutions for enterprise organizations. The partnership initially focuses on the insurance industry, with plans to expand into retail and hospitality, and will be center stage during a joint insurance industry event later this month. The collaboration combines Hitachi Digital Services’ deep engineering expertise in enterprise-grade systems integration using AI with Stripe’s powerful payment infrastructure to address longstanding inefficiencies in how businesses secure, manage and integrate payments across customer journeys. “Payments matter. They are a critical component to the customer experience and business health as a small improvement in process can yield significant value. Yet, payments are often treated as a final step in the customer journey,” said Rajashekar Busani, Chief Operations Officer, Hitachi Digital Services. “By partnering with Stripe, we’re transforming static, cumbersome payment capabilities to be intelligent dynamic assets—creating a seamless, frictionless process that improves conversion rates, reduces complexity, and enhances customer satisfaction.” Simplifying a Complex Ecosystem Traditionally, organizations manage multiple vendors for payment gateways, risk management, authorization, processing and reporting. This results in operational complexity and, often, fragmented customer experiences. Integration between numerous vendors creates vulnerabilities that can break a system, leave it susceptible to fraud or, minimally, create an unfriendly customer journey with limited payment choices. Hitachi Digital Services and Stripe offer a unified solution that consolidates all the need-to-have functions into a single, streamlined infrastructure while still allowing organizations to deploy their CRM, PAS, and ERP systems of choice. This joint approach reduces the number of third-party relationships, improves reliability and security, allows for greater cost management, and delivers greater visibility and control over transactions. Engineering-Led Innovation A key partnership differentiator is the shared engineering heritage between the two companies. Unlike competitive industry collaborations, Hitachi Digital Services and Stripe emphasize building and integrating technology solutions end-to-end via modern, modular architectures that create scalable foundations for future innovations. This approach is particularly relevant as industries undergo rapid transformation driven by increased digitalization, mergers and acquisitions, and emerging technologies such as AI-powered commerce. Organizations require modern payment infrastructure that supports traceability, security, and scalability—capabilities central to the joint offering. While the initial focus is on insurance, the partnership is designed to scale into additional verticals including other financial services, hospitality, transportation and retail. Joint Industry Event Hitachi Digital Services and Stripe will host their first joint event on April 30, 2026, at Hitachi’s London office. The event brings together leaders from across the insurance and payments ecosystem including Stripe, Hitachi Digital Services, Visa, Mastercard, Hastings Direct, Markerstudy, and Cursor. Discussions will focus on helping insurance companies evolve payments from a basic operational function to a strategic digital asset as AI reshapes distribution, customer journeys, and the economics of the insurance industry overall. “This event is an opportunity to bring together some of the most influential voices in payments and insurance to discuss the industry’s future. It also represents a major milestone in building a collaborative ecosystem around modern payment infrastructure,” said Stewart Reeder, Head of Insurance, Hitachi Digital Services. “Hyper-efficient payments systems hold untapped potential that we intend to help insurance leaders unlock.” To register for the event, visit: https://event.on24.com/wcc/r/5165075/46B07051B92E5C217A7A5A16B15107A2. This recognition highlights Hitachi Digital Services’ industrial AI leadership, strategic execution, and customer-focused innovation accelerating measurable transformation at scale. San Antonio, TX — October 21, 2025 — Frost & Sullivan is pleased to announce that Hitachi Digital Services has received the 2025 North America Competitive Strategy Leadership Recognition in the Artificial Intelligence Services Industry for its outstanding achievements in delivering production-ready AI capabilities, optimizing cloud workloads, and enabling cost-effective, scalable digital solutions for industrial enterprises. This recognition highlights Hitachi DS’s strong market position and consistent leadership in driving measurable outcomes while accelerating customer innovation in a rapidly evolving competitive landscape. “Hitachi’s legacy runs deep in industrial sectors worldwide, with our outputs spanning software and hardware design, development, and delivery. As such, we as a technology partner hold unique insight that allows enterprises to confidently place their futures in our hands. We’ve co-created some of the most pivotal digital transformations seen in recent years. And, we’re proud to be recognized for that work by Frost & Sullivan as this acknowledgement underscores the commitment we strive for every day,” said Roger Lvin, CEO, Hitachi Digital Services. Frost & Sullivan evaluates companies through a rigorous benchmarking process across two core dimensions: strategy effectiveness and strategy execution. Hitachi DS excelled in both, demonstrating its ability to align strategic initiatives with market demand while executing them with efficiency, consistency, speed, and scale. “Hitachi Digital Services embeds reliability and alignment from the outset, making true production-ready AI systems. Its flagship HARC for AI service, originally designed for cloud workload optimization, operationalizes AI using Gen and Agentic AI tech for reliability, observability and cost control. This enables the company to focus on production operations rather than prototype showcases,” said Nishchal Khorana, Associate Partner - Growth Opportunity Analytics at Frost & Sullivan. Guided by a long-term growth strategy focused on integrating information technology (IT) and operational technology (OT) for industrial transformation, Hitachi Digital Services has shown its ability to adapt and lead in a rapidly evolving AI services landscape. Its deep domain expertise across manufacturing, energy, mining, logistics, and transportation enables it to deliver targeted, high-impact AI solutions, from predictive maintenance and quality control to supply chain optimization and fleet monitoring. Sustainable innovation remains central to Hitachi DS’s approach, particularly regarding AI solution delivery as illustrated by three disruptive, proprietary services: R2O2.ai, HARC for AI, and HARC Agents. The Reliable, Responsible, Observable, and Optimal AI (R2O2.ai) framework uses Gen AI to solve the critical challenge of moving AI models through conceptualization to proof-of-concept to production, ensuring solutions are reliable, observable and fit for purpose. Hitachi Application Reliability Center (HARC) for AI runs AI applications with greater reliability, efficiency, and governance while mitigating scaling challenges such as unpredictable costs, performance degradation over time, and limited oversight of complex models. The company’s newest release, HARC Agents is an Agentic AI platform combining HARC for AI and R202.ai with a library of AI agents and an enterprise-grade management system. The platform jumpstarts AI system development (decreasing development time by 30%) and simplifies cross-environment oversight of all AI systems—providing stronger control over governance, performance monitoring, and compliance. “At Hitachi Digital Services, we believe AI must be reliable, responsible, and production-ready from day one. Our focus is not on prototypes but on outcomes—solutions that scale, integrate deeply with operational environments, and deliver measurable value. By combining industrial domain expertise with intelligent architecture, we’re helping enterprises move beyond experimentation to sustainable AI at scale.” said Premkumar Balasubramanian, CTO at Hitachi Digital Services Hitachi DS’s hybrid AI approach blends off-the-shelf models with custom-built solutions tailored to client needs. Its work with organizations such as Hitachi Rail and WMATA, illustrating its ability to deliver mission-critical, high-accuracy AI systems that drive operational efficiency and business value. Frost & Sullivan commends Hitachi Digital Services for setting a high standard in competitive strategy, execution, and market responsiveness. By embedding AI across all digital transformation initiatives and pioneering intelligent architectures for the agentic AI era, the company is shaping the future of enterprise modernization. Frost & Sullivan’s Competitive Strategy Leadership Recognition is its top honor and recognizes the market participant that exemplifies visionary innovation, market-leading performance, and unmatched customer care. This recognition honors companies in various regional and global markets for demonstrating outstanding achievement and superior performance in leadership, technological innovation, customer service, and strategic product development. Industry analysts compare market participants and measure performance through in-depth interviews, analyses, and extensive secondary research to identify best practices in the industry. About Frost & Sullivan For six decades, Frost & Sullivan has been world-renowned for its role in helping investors, corporate leaders, and governments navigate economic changes and identify disruptive technologies, Mega Trends, new business models, and companies to action, resulting in a continuous flow of growth opportunities to drive future success. Commitment to Sustainable Innovation Underpins Hitachi Digital Services’ Ability to Positively Impact Climate via Controlled Resource Dependencies, Decarbonization, and Responsible Business Practices DALLAS, September 22, 2025 – Hitachi Digital Services today released its FY2024 sustainability impact report. The document is the company’s second annual report and first official presentation on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) progress since establishing itself as a standalone business. The report reveals a strong forward momentum as well as a complete Materiality Assessment establishing areas for future commitments. Hitachi Digital Services has since set 18 ESG goals for FY2025, an 80% increase over last year. While not new, publishing ESG and sustainability reports has generally been voluntary. However, as global debates around climate and human rights grow louder, the landscape is shifting with select disclosures now becoming mandatory domestically and internationally. This trend impacts how and with whom companies do business as study results not only affect brand reputations but employees, investors, and other stakeholders, too. For Hitachi, the call for responsible, ethical practices aligns with the company’s century-old founding principles which center on a people-first mentality along with a promise to positively contribute to society. “At Hitachi, accountability has always been at the heart of who we are. We understand that when our customers evaluate the practices of their partners, they do so out of genuine concern for their people, their communities, and the planet, not simply to satisfy regulatory requirements,” said Roger Lvin, CEO, Hitachi Digital Services. “For us, resilience and sustainability are not side initiatives. They are part of our heritage and our future. We lead by example, proving that technology can drive progress while protecting what matters most. Together with our customers, we are shaping solutions that create trust, deliver impact, and enable transformation for generations to come.” Based on the Materiality Assessment priorities, notable FY2024 milestones include: Responsible Procurement: DS’ mandatory training on sustainable procurement achieved a 100% completion rate. Additionally, 100% of new suppliers agreed to comply with the company’s Expectations of Business Partners—a code of conduct (CoC) for environmental sustainability, business continuity, data privacy, diversity, human rights and more. As a new member, DS committed to adhering to the Responsible Business Alliance’s (RBA’s) CoC that will influence future Expectation of Business Partners iterations. GHG Emissions Management and Reduction: Building on its climate strategy, Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions calculations were completed, representing the first year of comprehensive data collection and reporting for the restructured company. The results provide a robust baseline for future emissions tracking and reduction efforts. They will be used to set a reduction roadmap to net zero FY2050, with DS committing to set a near-term goal aligned with SBTi by FY2025. Water Conservation: DS sites in Santa Clara, California, and Hyderabad, India, represent nearly half of the company’s operational floor area. Monitoring water withdrawal in the two locations revealed that over 40% of the total water used in Hyderabad is recycled. To reduce the strain on local water sources, DS installed a water recycling plant in India with the capacity to treat more than 100 m³ of water per day, significantly reducing its water footprint and marking a meaningful contribution to its environmental goals. IOT-Driven Facility Decarbonization: Decarbonization focus areas include resource efficiency and optimization; energy transition and electrification; and operational efficiency improvements. Each requires resource dependency tracking. DS developed a partnership wherein IoT devices monitor a facility’s electricity and gas usage while also controlling temperature and overall energy consumption—allowing for dynamic tracking as well as simplified sub-metering. The system is currently in use within customer and select DS sites. Employee Contributions: Hitachi’s corporate mission of Powering Good through social innovation reaches deep into the company’s fabric—its people. Programs are designed to inspire team members to “do good” outside of their day jobs. DS executes on this commitment via Giving Week, an annual volunteering initiative aligning with the UN’s sustainable development goals. DS employees dedicated 1,185 volunteer hours to Giving Week, surpassing the 1,000-hour goal. Hitachi Digital Services’ commitment to internal sustainable innovation is viewed as imperative to its ability to help customers responsibly achieve their own sustainability objectives. To that end, the report cites three critical long-term environmental goals that impact DS’ and its customers’ operations: Achieving carbon neutrality in Scope 1 and 2 by FY2030. Drawing 100% of used electricity from renewable sources by FY2030. Achieving net zero by FY2050. To read the full report, visit: www.hitachids.com/sustainability/. From Rapid Development to Unified Observability, HARC Agents Powers Mission-Critical AI with a Pre-Built Agent Library, Seamless Collaboration, and Centralized Control The HARC Agents platform enables enterprises to design, build, deploy, and leverage complex agentic AI systems in 30% less time than typically required. HARC Agents combines four primary AI services from Hitachi: R2O2.ai, HARC for AI, Agent Library, and Agent Management System. The Agent Library – a just released library of pre-built, interconnected agentic AI agents – includes over 200 agents across six key domains. The new Agent Management System serves as a unified control layer for securing and observing AI agents across diverse platforms. HARC Agents draws on Hitachi’s decades of AI implementation experience coupled with over half a century of specialized system integration and engineering experience. DALLAS, September 10, 2025 – Today, Hitachi Digital Services unveiled Hitachi Application Reliability Center Agents (HARC Agents), the company’s enterprise platform for trusted Agentic AI. The platform combines a full lifecycle of AI services – from concepting to deployment to optimization – to give customers a vital jump start on mission-critical innovations. A definitive demonstration of advanced automation and human-AI collaboration, HARC Agents enables Hitachi to equip enterprises with complex, scalable AI systems in 30% less time than typically required – significantly reducing time to value. HARC Agents is comprised of four primary AI resources: R2O2.ai: a framework for defining the development and deployment of scalable, enterprise-grade AI workloads in a reliable, responsible, observable, and optimal manner. HARC for AI: the Hitachi Application Reliability Center hosting professional and managed services that operationalize AI systems; ensuring they are always on, reliable, and cost optimized. Agent Library (new): a library of pre-built, interconnected agentic AI agents that jump-start more complex agentic AI solution development as well as maximize those solutions’ outputs. Agent Management System (new): a single dashboard centralizing control of all agentic AI platforms across an enterprise environment; simplifying governance, performance monitoring, and compliance to ensure enterprises can confidently harness the power of AI at scale. “Simply put, HARC Agents exists to make AI enterprise ready at speed and scale. In today’s unforgiving business environment, only the companies that master AI at full enterprise power will survive and thrive. Generic AI solutions may appear attractive in demonstrations, but they are not built for mission-critical enterprise use and will fail when true pressure is applied,” said Roger Lvin, CEO, Hitachi Digital Services. “Too many technology partners are content to run pilots, chase headlines, and talk theory. Hitachi stands apart by delivering operationalized AI that scales globally, safeguards the enterprise, ensures compliance, mitigates risk, and drives measurable outcomes tied directly to business strategy. The future belongs to those who execute with precision and purpose, and to those who choose partners proven to turn AI into real enterprise value.” Businesses are embracing AI at an unprecedented rate. Per IDC, global spend on AI technologies is projected to reach $630 billion by 2028 (a CAGR of ~30%), with agentic AI anticipated to represent a majority of those investments. However, research firm Gartner warns that nearly half of agentic AI projects alone will likely be terminated before moving into production by the end of 2027 due to significant cost and complexity coupled with unclear return on investment. The time it takes to develop custom enterprise-grade AI systems varies dramatically depending on scope. The road to deployment involves numerous intensive steps between ideation and proof of principle through prototyping and production. The engineering work and oversight can be cost-prohibitive and time-consuming. Yet, with the right proven tools, much of it could be automated to alleviate most of that pressure while ensuring a valuable investment return. Which is where AI, specifically agentic AI, proves instrumental. “Imagine investing tens of millions into an AI system designed to manage sensitive operations, only to discover a year later that it is unreliable, unsecure, and not ready for production. Enterprises cannot afford to stake their future on hype or fragile AI. With HARC Agents, we’ve built a foundation for agentic systems that are not only secure and reliable but deeply integrated across IT and OT environments. Our approach ensures enterprise-wide observability and operational readiness from day one – turning innovation into scalable, sustainable impact,” explained Premkumar Balasubramanian, CTO, Hitachi Digital Services. Two New HARC Agents Resources Ensure Effective Enterprise AI Accessibility The new Agent Library is a rich collection of over 200 agents sourced corporate-wide from Hitachi’s group companies, with each company offering distinctive technology competencies. The agents are put to work by Hitachi engineers when developing more complex AI systems. The agents then continue to operate on behalf of the customers when they use those systems. Notably, the agents cross six key domains: Industrial AI (vertical-specific use cases) Operations AI Engineering AI Analytical AI Security AI Cloud AI The Agent Library will continue to grow as new agents are generated to support internal and external customer project needs. Simultaneously, Hitachi Digital Services also released today its Agent Management System (AMS). Within the HARC Agents framework, the AMS is a centralized observability and control layer via a single “pane of glass” across a heterogeneous set of agentic platforms such as Copilot Studio, Google Agentspace, Lyzr, Ema, and others. The unified visibility, governance, and lifecycle management of intelligent agents enabled by AMS ultimately ensures secure, scalable, and flexible deployment across enterprise environments. “Hitachi has long advanced the use of AI across all organizational layers – from executives to frontline engineers – supporting diverse applications such as business risk analysis and predictive maintenance. This is made possible by our decades of experience in building and operating IT systems. The deep domain knowledge embedded in our products and systems is what enables us to successfully deploy Agentic AI. HARC Agents represent a future where AI is not just a tool, but a partner that augments human capabilities and helps solve societal challenges. Through digital innovation, Hitachi is committed to delivering value to everyone and realizing a safe, secure, and sustainable society—a Harmonized Society,” said Jun Abe, Chairman of the Board at Hitachi Digital Services and Executive Vice President of Hitachi, Ltd., General Manager of the Digital Systems & Services Division. Sustainability-focused digital solution designed to reduce food waste by at least 25% and improve retailer fresh food supply chain management   LONDON and SANTA CLARA, Calif. – January 22, 2024 – Hitachi Digital Services, the digital consultancy and technology services subsidiary of Hitachi Ltd. (TSE: 6501), is supporting food waste prevention specialists OneThird in the development of a breakthrough solution tackling the global food waste crisis. OneThird selected Digital Services from Hitachi Vantara, now a new entity known as Hitachi Digital Services, to combine its Azure cloud and application expertise with their in-depth understanding of sensing and AI technology and together they created a real-time data insights platform to enable a smarter and more flexible food supply chain. The solution enables fresh produce supply chains to prevent significant waste of produce – 25% at least – while also saving on the associated cost of those losses. For more information about Hitachi Digital Services efforts in sustainability, visit: https://www.hitachids.com/service/sustainability-services/ Currently about 1/3 of food production is lost and wasted globally, despite unprecedented levels of human consumption, courtesy of a growing global population that is set to increase by nearly 2 billion people in the next 30 years. The financial costs of food wastage are substantial and amount to about USD 1 trillion each year. It is imperative that solutions are created to ensure there is enough food for everyone, which also includes reducing the current food waste crisis. OneThird has developed a portable scanner that is able to scan produce on a molecular level – analyzing their water, sugar, and starch content – using a non-destructive, near-infrared sensing technology and AI algorithms to predict the shelf-life of fresh produce. Leveraging Hitachi Digital Services’ cloud development capabilities, the estimated shelf-life data becomes available in real-time, enabling all parties involved to decide on the final retail destinations of the fresh produce or redirect to alternative purposes like dry freezing or processing into soups and sauces.  Marco Snikkers, CEO and founder of OneThird said, “The astronomical volume of food that goes to waste each year is heartbreaking, particularly since so much is wasted in affluent countries. We’ve worked closely with Hitachi Vantara to create technology that helps to address this persistent, global challenge which directly impacts food scarcity. We are proud to have built the first cloud-based and connected product that accurately and objectively predicts the shelf life of fresh produce. The interest has been overwhelming, and we aim to accelerate the deployment of our technology globally.” The insights obtained from the scanning data enable retailers to: Consider the best distribution routes based on produce shelf life and customer specifications; Repurpose items to food banks or processing instead of having produce rejected by shoppers due to short shelf life; Provide best before and expiration dates based on actual shelf life rather than default values; and, Apply discounts in-store if produce shelf life is near expiration and better manage stock by placing items with a longer shelf life towards the back. To help drive OneThird’s digital strategy and journey, Hitachi Digital Services co-created the data and analytics integration platform and interfaces to interact with different external platforms in real-time. “Currently able to predict the shelf life of tomatoes, strawberries, blueberries and avocados, the technology will extend to a range of further produce including grapes, bananas, mangoes, and raspberries by 2024. Notably, the solution solves the ‘avocado problem,’ with shoppers no longer needing to squeeze avocadoes in-store to test for their ripeness, which can damage them,” said Roger Lvin, CEO of Hitachi Digital Services. “As the food waste crisis continues, retailers must be equipped with the insights needed to reduce food waste in a truly impactful way. It’s exciting that our data-driven solutions are playing a role in helping to achieve this. We’re proud to have collaborated with OneThird on this initiative, which not only supports sustainable practices but also has huge growth potential, as new product developments are currently in the works. We are incredibly excited to see what this solution will go on to achieve.” The technology is already available for use by those working across the food supply chain, from growers to distributors. In addition, multiple European retailers are currently in talks to install the technology in-store, while all are already using the scanning devices within their supply chains. This co-created digital solution is the latest example showcasing Hitachi’s expertise in helping customers to drive their sustainability goals, having recently worked with Golden Grove to improve the nursery’s irrigation practices by 30% and Blechwarenfabrik Limburg to reduce energy costs by half a million Euros annually.
